The May 2008 Issue of Ebony

They are still riding Obama's jock in Ebony, yet failing to get me my subscription on time. So, I bought it knowing that its coming in the mail tomorrow. There's a reason for my sporadic behavior though...

This month's issue caught my attention making my trip to Target Baptist Church. Just kidding. I overslept for church, but you can bless people with your money wherever you go.

VANESSA LYNNE WILLIAMS (without Slick Rick)

Well, Vanessa X. Fox, more popularly known as Vanessa L. Williams, made me almost pull a Stanley Pringle move (see post below) in the store!

At 45, she is still the breath-taking beauty that charmed our hearts as Miss America 1984. Unfortunately, her reign was short-lived because Penthouse was making it "rain" on her.

Now 24 years later, she's a happy mom with a great family and a new outlook on life.

And her two oldest daughters are over 18! Thank you Jesus!

Ebony better not make me pull these pictures down! I'm trying to get people to buy this issue!

Everybody go buy this issue!

Other great features of the May Issue:

  • Intelligent Commentary from the Phoenix Suns forward Amare Stoudemire in the "For Brothers Only" section
  • A Great post on self-esteem by my childhood crush, Olympic medalist Dominique Dawes in "Sisterspeak"
  • In the power 150, a 23 year old state representative named Bakari Sellers (D-SC) is saluted.

Yes, I agree, Vanessa Williams is still a breathtaking woman @ the age of 45. I've always been impressed with the way she carried herself after the Penthouse debacle occurred when I was just a young boy. With her beauty, dignity, and intelligence...there is no wonder that, @ my current age of 35, she continues to remain successful.

I did not know she had that many kids... why do I only remember her being pregnant twice!

Yes Lawd, I've loved Vanessa L. Williams since she became the first
Black Ms. America. If I had been
blogging in 1984..I would've defended her after Penthouse sullied her name. She's still drop
dead gorgeous. (She's the only reason I watch "Ugly Betty"- but don't tell anyone.)
